Without a proper vaccination schedule and early health screenings, puppies are vulnerable to serious and potentially fatal diseases like parvovirus, distemper, and canine hepatitis. The American Animal Hospital Association recommends a series of core vaccinations starting as early as six to eight weeks of age, with boosters given every three to four weeks until the puppy reaches about 16 weeks old.
