Few things in life compare to the soft purr of a kitten curled up in your lap for the first time. Those tiny whiskers and playful pounces bring so much joy, but behind all that cuteness is a small body that needs careful attention during its earliest months to grow into a healthy, thriving cat.
Venetian Pet Hospital offers complete kitten wellness care for families throughout Stockton, CA. Our kitten wellness program is built to protect your new feline family member with the right vaccinations, health screenings, and guidance during this critical period of development.
Our dedicated team is here to provide urgent, high-quality care for your pets—because they’re family and deserve immediate attention when it matters most!
Kittens are especially vulnerable to infections and diseases during their first few months because the immunity they received from their mother gradually wears off. Diseases like feline panleukopenia, upper respiratory infections, and feline leukemia can be devastating without proper vaccination. The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine recommends that kittens begin their vaccination series as early as six to eight weeks of age, with boosters continuing until they are around 16 weeks old.
Starting wellness visits early also allows our team to check for congenital issues, monitor growth, and make sure your kitten is hitting important developmental milestones.
Our kitten wellness exams are designed to be gentle and thorough so your new cat feels comfortable in our care. A typical visit includes several important components.
Each visit gives you an opportunity to ask questions about litter training, scratching behavior, socialization, and anything else that comes with raising a kitten.
Every kitten needs protection against panleukopenia, feline calicivirus, feline herpesvirus, and rabies. This series typically starts around six to eight weeks and continues with boosters every three to four weeks until about 16 weeks of age.
Depending on your kitten’s living situation, our veterinarians may also recommend the feline leukemia vaccine, particularly for kittens who will go outdoors or live with other cats. We tailor every vaccination plan to your kitten’s lifestyle and risk level.
My dog Aurora had mouth cancer. I found out and had such little time to schedule her surgery because it was so aggressive. I was referred to Dr. Sam by a friend. I live in Santa Barbara and made the trip up to Sacramento. I am still impressed how well everything went! She had to have almost half of her jaw removed. She is cancer free and looking amazing! Back to her puppy self. First picture is only 2 months after surgery! 2nd and 3rd are the day of. Dr. Sam saved my baby

My kitty bounced back so quickly because Dr. Sam is an expert in his field and knew just what needed to be done. Highly recommend Broadway Veterinary Hospital! Thanks, Dr. Sam!
- Madison G.As your kitten approaches the appropriate age, we will discuss spaying or neutering and help you decide the right timing. These procedures reduce the risk of certain cancers and help manage behavioral issues. We also recommend microchip identification to keep your kitten safe if they ever slip out the door.
