Complete Medical Assessment in Stockton, CA

OPEN MONDAY – FRIDAY 5:00pm to 9:00PM

Your pet can’t tell you when something feels wrong, and many serious health conditions develop silently before outward symptoms ever appear. A complete medical assessment gives your veterinarian the tools to look beneath the surface and catch problems at their earliest and most treatable stages. It’s the most thorough evaluation your pet can receive, and it often uncovers issues that a standard checkup alone might miss.

At Venetian Pet Hospital, we perform comprehensive medical assessments for dogs, cats, birds, and exotic pets throughout Stockton. Whether your pet is showing new symptoms or you simply want a deeper look at their overall health, our team provides the diagnostics and attention needed to build a complete picture.

Our dedicated team is here to provide urgent, high-quality care for your pets—because they’re family and deserve immediate attention when it matters most!

What a Complete Medical Assessment Includes

A full medical assessment goes beyond the nose-to-tail physical exam you see at a typical wellness visit. It combines hands-on evaluation with advanced diagnostic testing to evaluate your pet’s organ function, blood health, and internal structures. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, routine preventive assessments help veterinarians identify diseases in their earliest stages, which can significantly improve treatment outcomes and extend your pet’s quality of life.

Physical Examination

Every assessment begins with a detailed physical exam. We evaluate your pet’s body condition, weight, heart and lung sounds, lymph nodes, joint mobility, skin and coat health, eyes, ears, and oral cavity. This baseline evaluation helps us identify areas that warrant further investigation.

Diagnostic Bloodwork

Blood tests provide critical insight into how your pet’s organs are functioning. A complete blood count reveals information about red and white blood cells and platelets, while a comprehensive chemistry panel evaluates kidney function, liver health, blood sugar levels, electrolytes, and protein levels. Thyroid screening may also be included, especially for older pets.

Urinalysis

A urine sample helps us assess kidney function, detect urinary tract infections, identify crystals or stones, and screen for diabetes. Combined with bloodwork, urinalysis gives us a much more complete view of your pet’s internal health.

When Your Pet Should Have a Full Assessment

We recommend complete medical assessments in several situations. Annual assessments are valuable for adult pets as part of their wellness care, and twice-yearly evaluations are often recommended for senior pets whose health can change more rapidly. Pets with chronic conditions like diabetes, kidney disease, or thyroid disorders benefit from regular monitoring to keep their treatment plans on track.

We also recommend a full assessment when your pet is showing new or unexplained symptoms such as weight changes, increased thirst or urination, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in appetite. These signs can point to a wide range of underlying conditions, and diagnostic testing helps us narrow down the cause efficiently.

Advanced Diagnostics When You Need Them

When initial results point toward a specific concern, we have the tools to dig deeper. Our hospital offers digital X-rays to evaluate bones, joints, and organ size, ultrasonography for real-time imaging of soft tissues and internal organs, tonometry for eye pressure testing, and cardiac evaluation for pets showing signs of heart disease. Having these diagnostic capabilities in-house means faster results and less stress for your pet.

Dr. Hanh Do has a particular interest in internal medicine and diagnostics, and our entire team is committed to using every available tool to find answers. We walk you through every result and explain what it means for your pet’s health and care plan moving forward.

“ Dr. Sam saved my baby...

My dog Aurora had mouth cancer. I found out and had such little time to schedule her surgery because it was so aggressive. I was referred to Dr. Sam by a friend. I live in Santa Barbara and made the trip up to Sacramento. I am still impressed how well everything went! She had to have almost half of her jaw removed. She is cancer free and looking amazing! Back to her puppy self. First picture is only 2 months after surgery! 2nd and 3rd are the day of. Dr. Sam saved my baby
