Signs Your Pet May Need Diagnostic Testing
Diagnostic testing helps us look deeper when an exam alone cannot explain a symptom. Pets may hide illness, so testing can reveal concerns that are not easy to see from the outside. Diagnostics may also be recommended before surgery, during senior wellness visits, when monitoring chronic disease, or when your pet’s symptoms return after treatment.
Your pet may need diagnostics if you notice:
-
Vomiting or diarrhea
-
Coughing, wheezing, or breathing changes
-
Limping or difficulty moving
-
Weight loss or weight gain
-
Appetite changes
-
Increased thirst or urination
-
Low energy or weakness
-
Skin irritation or recurring ear infections
-
Abdominal swelling or discomfort
-
Trouble urinating
-
Seizures, tremors, or neurologic changes
-
A lump, swelling, or unexplained pain
What Happens After Your Pet’s Test Results?
Once results are available, our veterinarians will explain what they show in plain language. We’ll talk through what the findings may mean, what still needs to be ruled out, and which treatment options make sense for your pet.
Depending on the results, your pet’s plan may include:
-
Medication
-
Nutrition changes
-
Pain management
-
Surgery
-
Dental care
-
Hospitalization or supportive care
-
Follow-up testing
-
Ongoing monitoring
-
Referral when advanced specialty care is needed
Our goal is to help you feel informed, not flooded with medical terms. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what is happening and what comes next.
