Cat and Dog Grooming in Stockton, CA

Grooming does more than help your pet look polished. A well-maintained coat can prevent painful mats, reduce skin irritation, support healthy shedding, and make it easier to notice changes such as lumps, hot spots, ear concerns, or nail overgrowth.

At Venetian Pet Hospital, we offer cat and dog grooming with two experienced groomers on staff, including professional breed-specific grooming services. Because grooming takes place in a veterinary hospital setting, our Stockton, CA team is especially mindful of comfort, cleanliness, safety, and vaccine protection for every pet who visits.

Whether your dog needs a breed-specific haircut, your cat needs help with mats, or your pet is due for routine coat care, call (209) 477-3926 to ask about grooming availability and scheduling.

Dog and Cat Grooming Services We Offer

Every pet’s coat has different needs. Some pets need regular trims to stay comfortable, while others need more detailed grooming based on breed, coat texture, lifestyle, or skin sensitivity.

Our grooming services may include:

  • Bathing

  • Brush-outs

  • Haircuts and trims

  • Breed-specific cuts

  • De-shedding support

  • Mat removal when appropriate

  • Nail trims

  • Ear cleaning

  • Sanitary trims

  • Cat grooming

  • Coat care for senior pets or pets with special handling needs

Our groomers work with dogs and cats of many sizes, coat types, and personalities. If your pet has a medical condition, skin issue, mobility concern, or anxiety with grooming, please let us know when scheduling so we can talk through the best plan.

Why Regular Grooming Helps Your Pet Feel Better

Coat care is a meaningful part of preventive pet health. Mats can pull tightly on the skin, trap moisture, hide sores, and make movement uncomfortable. Overgrown nails can change how your pet walks and may contribute to soreness over time.

Routine grooming can help with:

  • Matted fur

  • Heavy shedding

  • Skin irritation

  • Odor

  • Dirt and debris in the coat

  • Overgrown nails

  • Ear buildup

  • Discomfort around the face, feet, or sanitary areas

  • Coat maintenance for long-haired breeds

  • Hygiene support for older pets

Grooming can also help pet owners catch changes earlier. During brushing, bathing, and trimming, it may become easier to notice new lumps, tender areas, skin redness, hair loss, or signs that your pet may need a veterinary exam.

Breed-Specific Cuts and Professional Coat Care

Some pets need more than a basic bath and trim. Breed-specific grooming requires an understanding of coat patterns, structure, proportion, and presentation, especially for breeds with more detailed grooming needs.

Venetian Pet Hospital has two groomers on staff, and one of our groomers has experience as a judge and handler. This level of knowledge can be especially helpful for pets who need a specific style, coat shape, or finish.

Whether your pet needs a practical everyday haircut or a more polished breed-specific cut, our grooming team can help you choose an option that fits your pet’s coat, comfort, and lifestyle.

Grooming Vaccine Requirements

Because grooming appointments take place in an animal hospital environment with other pets nearby, Venetian Pet Hospital requires pets to be appropriately vaccinated before grooming. These requirements help protect your pet, other pets, and our team.

Dogs must be current on:

  • DAP (distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus)

  • Bordetella

  • Canine influenza

  • Rabies

Cats must be current on:

  • FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia)

  • Rabies

We recommend completing vaccines at least two weeks before your pet’s grooming appointment when possible. This gives your pet’s immune system time to respond and helps avoid last-minute scheduling issues.

If your pet’s vaccines are not current, please call ahead. Our team can help you determine what records are needed and whether your pet should schedule a veterinary visit before grooming.

How to Schedule a Grooming Appointment

Grooming appointments are scheduled directly with our grooming team. You may also call Venetian Pet Hospital, and our team can help point you in the right direction.
