DEALING WITH PET PARASITES

By October 26, 2020 No Comments

Venetian Pet Hospital in Stockton is here for you and your pets when they are dealing with parasites. Unfortunately, many cats and dogs have problems with flea and tick infestations. We have a lot of experience in examining pets for parasites and with dispensing preventative medicine. We can even treat your pets if they have a parasite infestation. Read on to learn more about the parasite prevention and treatment services we offer.

Veterinary Examination for Parasites

Pets should get yearly physicals, just like humans. One of the most important parts of the yearly exams that we offer for our furry patients is an inspection for parasites. Your veterinarians will carefully check your pet for any evidence of flea or tick infestations. If your pet does have a parasite problem, we can prescribe medicine right away.

Preventative Medicine for Parasites

Even if your pets do not have a parasite problem, they should still get preventative treatment. There are several different types of preventative treatments that we can offer for your animal. Many of our furry patients, especially the cats we treat, end up wearing flea collars, but that isn’t the only topical preventative we carry. A special liquid medicine applied between the shoulder blades to prevent fleas is also available for both cats and dogs. Your veterinarian can advise you of the options available for your dog or cat.

Treatment for Parasites

We often find evidence of flea or tick infestation during a routine exam. We also commonly treat pets who have been brought to us after their owners noticed the infestation themselves. If you’re in this boat, there’s no need to get worried. Most flea or tick infestations can be taken care of quickly and easily by one of the powerful anti-parasite medications that we have at our practice.
